How to change a video's speed

Drop a clip, pick a speed, and download the result as an MP4 — all in your browser.

  1. 1

    Drop in your video

Drag in or browse for an MP4, WebM or MOV. It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

    Choose a speed

Drag the slider or tap a preset from 0.25x (slow-mo) to 4x (fast-forward). The audio is sped up or slowed to match.

  3. 3

    Apply the speed change

Hit Change speed. The first run loads a one-time ~32MB engine, then a progress bar shows the work happening right in your browser.

  4. 4

    Preview the result

Watch the retimed clip and check it feels right before saving.

  5. 5

    Download your MP4

Download the new MP4, ready to upload, email or post — no watermark, no signup.

Change Video Speed — FAQ

Is this video speed changer really free?

Yes — change the speed of as many videos as you like, free, with no signup and no watermark. An optional Pro membership (NZ$9/mo) adds extreme speeds and batch processing, but the free tool covers everyday slow-mo and fast-forward on its own.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your video is read and retimed entirely in your browser using a local video engine. The file never leaves your device — there is no server and nothing is stored online.

Does the audio stay in sync?

Yes. Both the video and the audio are stretched or compressed together, so the sound stays matched to the picture. For big speed changes the audio is processed in stages to keep it clean.

What speeds can I choose?

Anywhere from 0.25x (quarter speed, dreamy slow-mo) up to 4x (four times faster, a quick fast-forward). You can drag the slider for anything in between or tap a preset.

Can I make a time-lapse of a property or build?

Absolutely — speeding a long clip up to 4x is a quick way to turn a slow walk-through or a build over time into a punchy time-lapse for social. Slow-mo at 0.25x is great for a kitchen or feature reveal.

Why is a big or long video slow to process?

Everything happens on your device with a single-thread engine, so large or long clips can take a while — especially on a phone. For the quickest result, retime a shorter clip.
