Is this accounting software really free?

Yes. Invoicing, expenses, bank reconciliation, the GST return, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and aged reports are all free, with no signup and no watermark. Pro (NZ$9/mo) adds Excel exports, branded/white-label invoices and report packs, recurring invoices and bank rules.

Does it handle New Zealand GST?

Yes — Hero is built for NZ GST at 15%, on either an invoice (accrual) or payments (cash) basis, and produces a GST return showing output tax, input tax and the net GST to pay or be refunded.

Where is my financial data stored?

Entirely in your browser on this device — there is no server and nothing is uploaded. You can export a backup file any time, and restore it on another device.

Can I send invoices to customers?

Yes. Create an invoice and download a clean PDF to email, or send it from your own email. Branded, white-label invoices are a Pro feature.

Is it suitable for a sole trader or small business?

Yes — Hero is designed for NZ sole traders, contractors and small businesses who want simple, proper books without a monthly subscription.
