How to record your screen

Click “Start recording” and your browser will ask what to share — a whole screen, a single window, or just one tab.

Share audio if you need it
Tick “Share audio” or “Share tab audio” in the browser dialog to capture sound along with the video. Then allow access.

Record what you need
A live timer shows you how long you’ve been recording. Walk through the screen, demo or tutorial you want to capture.

Stop when you’re done
Click “Stop recording” — or end it from your browser’s own “Stop sharing” bar. We’ll capture everything up to that point.

Preview and download
Play the recording back to check it, then download a .webm video file straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Screen Recorder — FAQ
Is this screen recorder really free?
Yes — record your screen as often as you like, free, with no signup and no watermark. An optional Pro membership (NZ$9/mo) adds extras across the tools, but screen recording here is fully usable on its own.
Is anything uploaded to a server?
No. The recording is captured and saved entirely in your browser using built-in web APIs, so your video never leaves your device. There’s no server and nothing is stored online — that privacy is the whole point.
Can I record my screen with audio?
Yes. When the browser asks what to share, tick “Share audio” (or “Share tab audio” for a single tab). System and tab sound is then captured into the recording alongside the video.
What can I use this for in my NZ business?
It’s great for quick client walkthroughs, software tutorials, training your team, recording a demo for a customer, or capturing a Zoom/Teams call you’re hosting — without paying for desktop recording software.
Does it work on my phone?
Screen recording in the browser needs the getDisplayMedia API, which mobile browsers generally don’t support — so this works best on a laptop or desktop in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. On a phone, use your device’s built-in screen recorder instead.
What format is the recording, and is there a time limit?
You get a standard .webm video file that plays in most modern players and uploads to YouTube, Drive and social. There’s no fixed time limit, though very long recordings use more of your device’s memory.
