Click “Enable camera” and allow access when your browser asks. The live preview appears straight away — nothing is uploaded.

Use the preview to check your lighting, framing and background before you hit record. Good light in front of you beats a window behind you.

Tap “Start recording”. A timer and a red dot show it’s rolling. Say your piece, then tap “Stop recording” when you’re done.

Is this webcam recorder really free?
Yes — record as many clips as you like, free, with no signup and no watermark. An optional Pro membership (NZ$9/mo) adds extras across the toolkit, but the webcam recorder is fully usable on its own.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Your camera feed and the finished clip are processed entirely in your browser using MediaRecorder. There’s no server and nothing is stored online — when you close the tab, the recording is gone unless you’ve downloaded it.
Why does it ask for camera and microphone permission?
The browser needs your explicit permission to access the webcam and mic — that’s a privacy safeguard built into every browser. If you blocked it by accident, click the camera icon in the address bar and allow access, then try again.
What can I use it for here in NZ?
It’s great for quick pieces-to-camera, client testimonials, a vendor update, a Trade Me listing intro, a course welcome video, or a personal message to a customer — no app, no studio, just you and your laptop or phone.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes — it runs in any modern mobile browser like Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. Allow camera access when prompted and record using your front or rear camera.
What format and quality is the file?
Recordings save as a .webm video at your webcam’s native resolution. WebM plays in most modern players and uploads cleanly to YouTube, Facebook and most platforms; you can convert it later if you need MP4.
