How to trim a video online

Drop a clip, set the start and end, and download — all in your browser.

  1. 1

    Drop in your video

Drag in or browse for an MP4, WebM or MOV. It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.

  2. 2

    Set the start point

Drag the start slider (or type the seconds) to where you want the clip to begin. The time shows as m:ss so it is easy to land on the right spot.

  3. 3

    Set the end point

Drag the end slider to where the clip should stop. The tool keeps the end after the start and shows the clip length as you go.

  4. 4

    Trim the video

Hit Trim video. The first run loads a one-time ~32MB engine, then a progress bar shows the trim running right in your browser.

  5. 5

    Preview and download

Play the trimmed clip to check it, see the file size, then download it in the same format you started with.

Trim Video — FAQ

Is this video trimmer really free?

Yes — trim as many videos as you like, free, with no signup and no watermark. An optional Pro membership (NZ$9/mo) adds batch trimming and saved presets, but the free tool is fully usable on a single video on its own.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your video is read and trimmed entirely in your browser using an in-page video engine. The file never leaves your device — there is no server and nothing is stored online.

Will trimming lower the quality?

No. The trim stream-copies the video instead of re-encoding it, so there is no quality loss and it is fast. Because it copies whole frames, the start may snap to the nearest keyframe and begin a hair earlier — that is the trade-off for an instant, lossless cut.

Which video formats can I trim?

Anything your browser can play — typically MP4, WebM and MOV. The clip is saved back in the same format you started with. If a file will not load, try re-saving it as MP4 (H.264) first.

Can I use it to cut down a property reel or social clip?

Absolutely — it is great for trimming an Auckland listing walkthrough, an intro, or a long take down to the moment that matters for Facebook, Instagram or YouTube. No app to install, and nothing leaves your laptop or phone.

Does it work on my phone, and what about large files?

Yes — it runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser. The engine is single-threaded, so very large or long videos can take a while (and use a lot of memory) on a phone. For the snappiest result, trim shorter source clips.
