How to extract audio from a video
Drop a clip, pick MP3 or WAV, and download the audio — all in your browser.
- 1
Drop in your video
Drag in or browse for an MP4, WebM or MOV. It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Choose MP3 or WAV
Pick MP3 for a small, share-friendly file, or WAV for uncompressed audio you plan to edit.
- 3
Extract the audio
Hit Extract. The first run loads a one-time ~32MB video engine, then a progress bar shows the audio being pulled out right in your browser.
- 4
Preview the result
Play the extracted track in the built-in audio player and check the file size before you save it.
- 5
Download your audio
Download the MP3 or WAV, ready to drop into an editor, a podcast, or your phone’s music app.
Video to MP3 — FAQ
Is this video to MP3 converter really free?
Yes — extract audio from as many videos as you like, free, with no signup and no watermark. An optional Pro membership (NZ$9/mo) batches lots of videos at once, but the free tool is fully usable on its own for a single video.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Your video is read and the audio is extracted entirely in your browser using an on-device engine. The file never leaves your device — there is no server and nothing is stored online.
What is the difference between MP3 and WAV?
MP3 is compressed, so the file is small and plays everywhere — ideal for voice, music and sharing. WAV is uncompressed, so it is larger but keeps the full quality, which is handy if you are going to edit the audio further.
Which video formats can I use?
Anything your browser can play — typically MP4, WebM and MOV. If a clip will not load, try re-saving it as MP4 (H.264) first, then extract the audio.
Can I use this for an interview or property walkthrough?
Absolutely — it is great for grabbing a voiceover from an Auckland listing walkthrough, lifting the audio from an interview, or saving a music bed from a clip for your next reel. No app to install.
Does it work on my phone, and why is a long video slow?
It runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser. The audio engine loads once (~32MB) and runs single-threaded, so large or long videos can take a while — especially on a phone. For the fastest results, use a shorter clip.
